I Guess It’s Official
It is so hard to change. Why? Well, after 16 years of doing something that I love doing for a great organization, I am afraid. What is the irony here? For the past 16 years I have encouraged people to find the spirit within them to want to change, to want to get healthy, to want to make a difference. Now being the one to have to take that advice is hard to swallow.
I have been so blessed to have met so many great people and to share a sport that I love. I was comfortable with what I was doing and that makes it hard to change. I learned along time ago, that helping others is really helping yourself. Watching someone else set a goal, go after that goal and achieve it was like winning a gold medal in the Olympics for me.
For the past few months I have looked at this as a change in my life. But as I continue to reflect, I realize this is not about change, it’s about an open door to another opportunity to improve. This will allow me to take a concept and make it even better. I now realize there is always room for improvement. There are more life lessons to be learned and that is so exciting.
Everyone needs to do something like the Miles That Matter program. Everyone needs to dream. Setting a goal and going after that goal allows us the privilege to dream. This program will allow you to have fun everyday and not lose that child like wonder that exists in all of us. I promise you will meet a lot of wonderful people who will be loyal to you and you to them. Together we will help each other and many more. And I guarantee there will be many lessons learned for all of us.
